Immersive photography or VR (virtual reality) is a photographic technique that allows the interactive viewing of wide-angle panoramic images. An immersive image generally involves shooting in a 360 degrees circle. Image are shot either in a cubical or spherical process resulting in one image that can be explored by the viewer in a circle horizontally or both horizontal and vertical. Images are taken with a digital SLR on a special multi node tripod head. As many as 30 image may be taken of the scene, then stitched back together to create the file. Immersive/VR image are viewed mainly from the internet (your website) in either QuickTime format or the Flash format. The file may also be downloaded for viewing from the computer at any time. All immersive/VR images may be printed. This allows for some eye popping (and large!) panoramic prints.
